COUNTY DECISION

(Special to the "Evening Post."}

PALMERSTON N., This Day.

The Kairanga County Council yesterday decided to increase the wages of its outside staff to a scale approaching closely the new schedule issued by the Highways Board, and to make ■the restoration retrospective to October 1. This increase will bring wages to about 5 per cent, or 6 per cent, below what they were before the cuts, which in the case of Kairanga County amounted to about 23 per cent.

It was also decided to increase the salary of'the engineer by £50, in re- ; cognition of services rendered and to ( restore the salary of the clerk by £25.
