OBITUARY

RT. HON. EDWARD SHORTT, K.C. LONDON, November 11. The death has occurred of the Rt. Hon. Edward Shortt, K.C. The Rt. Hon. Edward Shortt, X.C, was president of the British Board of Film Censors since 1029. From 1907 to 1913 ho was Recorder of Sunderland, in 1918-19 he was Chief Secretary for Ireland, and from 1919 to 1922 j he was Home Secretary. He repre-' sented West Newcastle in the House of Commons as a Liberal from 1910 to 1922. Some years ago he paid a flying visit to New Zealand.
