GENERAL ELECTION

NOMINATIONS CLOSED TODAY

COMPLETE LIST OF 265 CANDIDATES

Nominations for the General Election in 76 European and 4 Maori seats closed at noon today. There are 265 candidates in the field, as compared with 189 for the 1931 election, and 212 at the General Election of 1928. This election every seat is to he contested, and in some seats there are as many as five and six candidates. Many who had declared their intention of going to the polls withdrew, and there were also some last-minute extra nominations.
