SYDNEY, This Day.
Mr. Broadbent arrived at Mascot j } aerodrome at 6.35 p.m., having flown the 2200 miles from Darwin in 17 hours i 57 minutes. He is the first airman to i fly a small machine from Darwin to i Sydney in one day. He stopped only' at Longreach to refuel. Announcing that he hoped to demonstrate that it was possible to fly solo from Australia to England and back to Australia in-a fortnight, Broadbent left Darwin on October 7 in an effort to beat the record of H. L. Brook, the Englishman, of 7 days 19 hours. After | his machine was damaged in a forced landing he abandoned the flight at Basra on October 15. He went to London and there made arrangements for the return flight to Australia.
