A mistake by a handicapper—the worst for 20 years, and one that under the Rules of Racing could not be rectified—^enabled, the whole county of Berkshire to reap'a harvest last month, says a London'report A::Wolverhampton fishmonger, owner of the horse, told £11 his friends who' had previously won on Crawley Wood to keep their winnings for a future date. It was a long | wait, occasioned by the illness, of tile horse, who was then handicapped 351b underweight, the handicappdr confessing that he had confused him ,\vith another ■horse.
Crawley Wood started at odds on, the bookmakers gambling ori something to turn up to" save the handicapper. Crawley Wood won by three lengths, strolling home. The handicapper said, "I am sorry for the error, particularly as this is my last meeting-"
