MR. HORNBLOW'S POSITION

A further deputation from the northern end of the Manawatu electorate waited upon Mr. J. K. Hornblow's committee on Saturday night requesting him to stand down in favour of the sitting member, Mr. J. Linklater. The committee unanimously decided that Mr. Hornblow should carry on.
LIVELY MEETINGS
MR. COATES : IN KAIPARA

AUCKLAND, This Day.
The Minister of Finance (the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates) is extending his tour of his own electorate, Kaipara, well into the present week. He has had crowded :meetings and has spoken as many as five X times on some days.
He has met with noisy obstructionists at Helensville, Ruawai, Paparoa, and Pukehuia.
At'Pukehuia, which is fourteen miles out of Dargaville, Mr.-Coates,addressed a meeting on Saturday of ' about 70 people, mostly dairy farmers. The gathering was a stormy one and Mr. Coates was subjected to a good deal of interruption, particularly when mentioning his opponent, Mr. W. Grounds, an ex-chairman of the Dairy Board.
A good deal of confusion occurred at the conclusion of the meeting, which lasted three hours, when an amendment was moved to a motion of thanks and confidence, expressing thanks only., There was much noise and many.people were leaving the hall at the time the motion was put. The chairman declared the amendment lost and the motion carried.
