(By Telegraph.)
(Special to the "Evening' Post.")
MASTERTON, This Day
Enthusiastic interest in co-operative pig marketing was manifested at a meeting of farmers held at Parkvale on Friday evening, the last of a series of meetings addressed, by Mr. N. W. Hastings, Dominion organiser of the New Zealand Co-operative Pig Marketing Association. Mr. E. T. Bliss presided over an attendance of thirty-five, which included representatives from the several districts previously, "visited; by Mr. Hastings. After Mr. Hastings had given a full explanation of cooperative marketing, the following re-! solution was carried: "That this meeting of farmers and Wairarapa delegates agrees to support the-New Zealand Co-operative Pig Marketing Association."
Mr. Townsend said that a spirit of1 co-operation was most essential, but so also was loyalty to the movement. The resolution must be supported or it would be useless. Another delegate observed that attempts might be made to counteract the movement by raising prices to producers.
The resolution was construed by Mr. Hastings as an invitation to commence operations in the Waifarapa, and he accepted the invitation on behall! of his association.
A strong committee, representative of all parts of the district, and with Mr. L.S. Fairbrother as chairman,'-was1 set up to take immediate steps to establish a working committee to cooperate with the association. The members of the committee are:—Mauriceville, Messrs. H. Myers and.A. Forsberg; Carterton, Messrs. A. J. Heyden and L. S. Fairbrother; Parkvale, Messrs.1 M. Brassel and E. T. Bliss; Martin-! boraugh, Messrs. H. Daysh and S. W Martin; Featherston, Messrs. R p Hardy and E. E. O"Neale; Greytown (tentatively), Messrs. L. J. Thompson and R. J. McNamara; Masterton, Mr. James Watson and two other delegates to be appointed.
Mr. F. W. Heaven was' appointed agent for the association, from Eketahuna' to Pirinoa.
Mr. Watson undertook to advise Eketahuna fully of. what was being done and to ascertain whether, that district wished to join in the co-operative marketing movement.
