NEW PLYMOUTH NOTES
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
-NEW PLYMOUTH, November- 9.
Though still on the slow side the New Plymouth course was in good order, for ' training operations this morning when nearly all the horses with engagements at Te Rapa were ■galloped. All the fast work took place: on the trial grass.
Headmistress and Refresher did a good working gallop over six furlongs, both hitting out in great style. They jire in excellent order.
Tahurangi bowled over seven- fur longs in his usual good style.
Sporting Song was sent a mile. He did not go fast over the early stages but finished solidly. The soft tracks that have prevailed of late have suited him and he is in fine order.
Bonny Glow and Glenvane covered five furlongs in lmin 6 l-ssec, finishing on terms, though Glenvane appeared to have something in reserve.
Davistock; Aussie Ea. and Chikara were, let off with easy tasks. R. Johnson has decided not to take 'Aussie Ea and Courtega to Te Eapa and they will next race at Feilding.
Lady Kyra was responsible for the best effort of the morning when she gave Bed Fox three or four lengths start and beat him easily over six furlongs in lmin 16Jsec. She ran up to him' after going about three furlongs and strode away in the straight. She ran the first half-mile, in 50sec. and was not pushed out in the straight. It was an attractive effort, showing that Lady Kyra is neai-ing her best. She will fulfil her engagement at Te Rapa on Saturday but so far no rider has been engaged. .
