(Received November 11, 11-»»J
BOMBAY, November 10.
A thousand youthful Untouchables, as a symbol of. their decision to abandon Hinduism, publicly burned many sacred Hindu books, including a copy of Laws of Manu, an ancient Hindu law-giver, and others upholding the doctrine of untouchability.
A Bombay cablegram on October 15 stated that Dr: Ambedkan, leader the Untouchables, advised an audience of ten thousand to "give up Hinduism and adopt any other religion giving equality of status and treatment." I Mr. Gandhi deplored the statement at a time when untouchabiltiy is,on its last legs. He expressed the opinion that millions of Untouchables would not listen to leaders who had renounce? their faith. ■' . '
