SYNOPSIS OF LAST 48 HOURS.
On Saturday some scattered showers fell in the far north, but otherwise fair weather prc■vailed generally with moderate south-westerly winds predominating. An anticyclone which had been crossing the Tasman Sea again passed to the north, however, and by Sunday morning a cyclone was advancing on to New Zealand. Consequently, winds had become northerly and the weather dull generally with scattered rain. During Sunday night the centre of the cyclone crossed the Dominion and rain has since fallen generally -with heavy downpours in places. Winds have also changed to fresh southerlies in most parts, the change having been accompanied by a drop in temperatures.
