Sir,—The recent announcement that the Auckland authorities are providing their traffic inspectors with uniforms designed for summer weather prompts me to again take up the case of the Wellington inspectors. The latter, I recollect, made a.request three years ago that they be provided with uniforms and headgear suitable for summer weather, their present uniforms apparently having been designed entirely for the coldest winter weather. At very little cost, light jackets and sun helmets could be provided especially for those on point duty and I trust that something will be done in this direction before the hot weather arrives, and thus help to make what are very strenuous duties slightly more bearable.—l am, etc., MOTORIST.

New Zealand law stipulates the same age qualification for girl motorists as for boys, according to the Chief Traffic Inspector, Mr. H. Macintosh (states the Christchurch "Press"). At a meeting of the Automobile Association last week Mr. F. W. Johnston stated that he believed that the Motor Vehicles Act stipulated that a driving licence could not be granted to a boy until he was 16, but a girl of 15 could be granted one. Mr. Macintosh said on Monday that the Act made the age of 15 for boys and girls. He said that his opinion was that a girl should not be allowed to drive until she was aged 17,
