DUNEDIN SEATS

QUIET CAMPAIGN

EARLY PROSPECTS

(By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.'1)

DUNEDIN, This Day.

The General Election campaign is proceeding quietly .in the Dunedin electorates. All the candidates have now addressed meetings, which have been orderly. Labour is still regarded as having a strong hold in Dunedin South, but the National candidates, Mr. A. S. Falconer in Dunedin North and Mir. D. C. Cameron in Dunedin Central, are making better headway than was at first anticipated.

Dunedin West is a straight-out fight between the Hon. W. Downie Stewart and Dn D. G. McMillan (Labour). The former's supporters are confident that he will be returned, but the result is likely to be close. Mr. Stewart has not yet really- entered into the campaign, having only arrived back from the north, but he has a strong and influential band of workers.

Mrs. R. S. .Black, the only lady candidate in the field, is having good meetings in Dunedin North and is carrying out her campaign with vigour. For Chalmers Mr. A. E. Ansell, the sitting member, is leaving nothing to chance, and is making good progress- in the country parts of the electorate. He is; opposed by Labour, which should poll well at Port Chalmers, and the Democrat Party.
