Her publishers estimate that Mrs. Gene Stratton-Porter had more than fifty million readers in America alone, not counting the thousands who read her stories in translation. At the time of her sudden and tragic death her publishers had sold more than 10,000.000 copies of her stories They estimated that for the past seventeen years, previous to her death in 1925, seven days a week, her book: sold an average of one thousand sever hundred copies a day. If placed end on end her novels would form a continuous line, 1000 miles long, and ii piled one on top of another they would reach the height of 1,250,000 feet, 01 1666 times the height- of £he Woolwortl Building. Gene Stratton-Porter lived the book: she wrote and dwelt among the folk: with whom she peopled most of hei novels. There was nothing of shan or pretence in the structures she built Her work was a constant protes against existing conditions insofar a: they affected the inherent and funda mental good of the people. A wave of renewed enthusiasm fo the works of the late Gene Stratton Porter has brought the screening, dur ing the past year, of three of her mos famous novels, and the latest to b presented on the screen is "The Keep er of the Bees," and it is anticipate! that this picture will be accorded ; most enthusiastic reception when i opens at the Majestic Theatre tomoi row. In bringing "The Keeper of th Bees" to the screen. Monogram Pic tures sought a cast of players tha would catch the spirit back of th story- As a consequence for the titl role it chose Neil Hamilton. Bett Furness was cast as the mother. Littl Scout is Edith Fellowes, and Hobar Bosworth plays the Bee Master.
