MASTERTON, This Day. me Waii-arapa amateur wrestling P1^ Sh} PS ~vere decided in the State Theatre, Carterton, last night •There was a good attendance, and some fast and keenly-contested bouts were witnessed. The wrestling throu«hout was of a high standard and a firstclass night's entertainment was provided. Mr. J. Fearon controlled the ™-SJ,., Whlch resulted as follows:— Mjddl e weight.-First round: Chappell (Masterton) beat Beaton (Feath- % Sw vby One fall t0 nil: Tweedie (Eketahuna) beat Murphy (Masterton) by one fall to nil; Dumbleton (Eketahuna) beat Blain (Featherston) by default. Second round: Chappell beat Hasmussen (Masterton) by one fall to nil, Rasmussen being unable to finish the bout owing to an injury; Dumbleton beat Tweedie on points. FinalChappell beat Dumbleton by one fall to mi.
Welterweight-First round: Wendon ff(Featherston) beat Russell (Masterton) by default; Simmonds (Featherston) beat Tilyard (Featherston) by default. Second round: Wendon beat H Tozer (Masterton) by default. Third round: Wendon beat Benton (Featherston) on points.' Final: Wendon beat faimmonds on points. Lightweight.— Lowe (Featherslon) beat H. Tozer (Masterton) on points; Neilsen (Eketahuna) beat Page (Masterton) by two falls to nil. Final: Neilsen beat Lowe on points. Light-heavyweight— Final: Noble (Featherston) beat Sutherland (Masterton) by one fall to nil. Heavyweight final: Sutherland (Masterton) beat Price (Featherston) by one fall to nil.
The bantamweight title had been •won previously by R. Southcy (Masterton).
_ A teleprinter, the latest development m apparatus for the transmission of telegrams, has been installed in the operating-room at the Nelson Post Office and commenced service yesterday. The Nelson installation is fourth in New Zealand.
