An interesting experiment in housing is being carried out at the St. Albans Estate, Karori. The property is situated at the end of the tramline and consists of 49, sections.. Each section (45ft by 190 ft) will carry a.dwelling of either four or five rooms as arranged. The. work 4s being undertaken by Wellington Mortgages Ltd., and the dwellings are being financed by the Wellington Building Society. The terms of occupancy are payment of a nominal deposit and a weekly rent; but if the tenant should desire to purchase the property this can be done on a long-term mortgage.
