EVANS BAY CLUB
A general meeting of the Evans Bay Swimming Club was held during the week, Mr. J. W. Steele presiding. There was an attendance of over sixty members, indicating the interest taken in the revival of the club, which has been inactive during the past few years owing to the difficulty in securing suitable accommodation.
The election of the principal officials was deferred until the next general meeting, which will take place on November 17, when various notices of motion to amend the rules will be considered.
An executive committee was elected consisting of Misses Bennett and Burke, Messrs,, Lawrie. Burgess, Banner Davidson, Rawlinson, Jenkins, Burke. Christie. Goldstein, and Steele; the lion, secretary. Mr. E. N. Steele, and the hon. treasurer. Mr. V. Holtz. This committee is to submit proposals for the coming season's activities, and at the next meeting the question of erecting a club-house will be discussed. All those present appeared to be enthusiastic at the revival of the club and it is expected that (he membership will be considerably increased during the season.
A vote of thanks was extended to the Evans Bay Yachting and Motor-boat Club for the use of its hall, and also to Messrs. Gerrie and McCartney who represented the swimming centre, for their support and advice.
