It has been well called the Devon of the South, where quiet rivers flow past picturesque villages in a climate always pleasant and cool; where every smiling landscape has a mountain for a background, and the romantic history of this old-world isle adds a charm that is unforgettable.
An excellent opportunity of visiting Tasmania direct from New Zealand is announced in this issue when the Marama will leave Wellington on Saturday, December 28, and Bluff on Monday, December 30, for Hobart, arriving there 911 Friday, January 3. The Marama will call at Hobart again on Friday, January 24. returning to New Zealand by way of Melbourne, arriving there on Sunday. January 26. She will leave again on Wednesday. January 29. for "New Zealand, calling at Bluff, February 2. Dunedin. February 4. Lyltelton, February 6. and Wellington, February 7. Passengers may thus spend three weeks in Tasmania and also enjoy two days in Melbourne. -If desired, passengers can proceed overland from Hobart to Launceston. Devonport or Burnie and proceed to Melbourne by the inter-state steamers- Taroona or Nairana.
It is also interesting to note that, circumstances permitting, the Marama will call at Milford Sound on the way from Bluff to Hobart. and also between Melbourne and Bluff.
