MONEY FOR THE MAORIS

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, November.,4.

A strong plea for support in his campaign for the Southern Maori seat was made by Mr. Thomas Kaipofohu Bragg, Independent candidate, before a good attendance of Native elector? at Invercargill this evening. He claimed that he had made greater progress towards a settlement of the "Ngaitahu claim" than anyone else, though he was not a member of the House. He criticised the inequitable, manner of paying old age pensions to Maoris. He said he| had discovered on the books of the Native Land Court thousands of pounds in unclaimed sums due to Maoris throughout the electorate, and he was now active in bringing to the notice of those people the fact that money was owing to them. He was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence.
