Wife of New Governor of N.S.W.
A cable, message reports the appointment of Admiral Sir David Murray Anderson, Governor and Com-mander-in-Chief of Newfoundland, to the Governorship of New South Wales. Lady Anderson has many friends in New Zealand, havifig been' before her marriage Miss Edith Teschemaker, daughter of the late Mr. W. H. Teschemaker,: of Marlborough'. She' married Sir Murray Anderson in 1908. Peanut Butter Recipe. A correspondent asks for a good tried recipe for peanut butter or nut paste. Would any reader who can assist please forward a recipe? A Celebration. To celebrate the announcement of their engagement, Miss Margaret Porter and Mr. James Newport entertained a few of their most intimate friends ,at a dinner party at Barrett's Hotel on Saturday evening. Miss Porter received her guests, wearing a charming frock of black ring velvet, : with a beautiful shoulder spray of tea-roses and rhaiden-hair fern; Before adjourning .to the dining-room, guests assembled : in. the lounge, where Mr. T. Ferguson' made- a speech of, congratulation. Those present included Miss M. Porter, Mrs. A. Oliver, Mrs. Ward (Palmerston North), Mrs.' K Burrell, Misses B. and G. Miss E. Marshall, Miss P. Bowman, and Messrs. J. Newport, A. Oliver, T. Ferguson, Burrell, and R. Skews. Tomorrow's Sale of Work. The Ladies' Guild at the Cambridge Terrace Congregational Church are concluding their winter season with their annual sale of work. Tha sale will be opened, tomorrow at,3 p.m. by Mrs. Knox Gilmer. The sale will continue tomorrow and Thursday afternoons and' evenings. Most attractive goods • will be on sale and a special programme will be presented each evening... Afternoon tea. and supper will be obtainable. Queen Carnival Effort. Tomorrow at 2.30 p.m. Mr. P. Fraser, M.P., Deputy Leader; of the Parliamentary. Labour Party, will officially open the Labour Party Queen Carnival and sale of work in the Trades Hall; Vivian Street. The stalls will be well stocked with various goods, cakes, sweets, flowers, produce, and miscellaneous articles to suit the taste of everybody. On Saturday at 2,30 p.m. a children's plain and fancy dress party will be held, and there will be sweets, biscuits, and ; drinks for' the children, and clowns, Punch and Judy, and various other amusements. Thespians' Playreading. At their weekly reading, Held in the Little Theatre, Cuba Street, last night, the Thespians presented "The Fourth Wall," an amusing and interesting detective play by'A. A:v Milne, before a 1 crowded audience of members, who thoroughly enjoyed the fine reading. The cast was as follows:—Jimmy Ludgrove, Myles F. E. Wright; Susan Cunningham, Marjorie Murray; Adams, L. Crothers; Arthur Ludgrove, Reg. Larkin; Edward Carter, E. R. Render; Major' Fothergill, ';■ Charles Acheson; Mrs; Fulverton-Fame, Florence L: Render; Jane West, Alwyn Rees-Jones; Edward Laverick, F. S. Hill; P: C. Mallet, G; T. Phipps-Williams; Sergeant Mallet, Sam Tansley. Stage directions were read by, Norman Hannah. The play to be'read by the society next Monday, night is "Safe Amongst the Pigs," by Harold Brighouse.
