OLD GIRLS' WEEKEND s
TJie Marsden School Old Girls' annual weekend, one of the happiest and most eagerly anticipated events of the year, commenced on Friday wjth Holy Communipn at St Mary's Church, Karon, at 7 15 a.m', after which those attending breakfasted at the school On Saturday afternoon there was j ten-
nis match between the "Old Guis" and present pupils, which was followed in the evening by the annual party given by the Old Girls' Association for 'the present pupils. The party commenced with an entertainment given by the Drama Circle membeis. The team which won the Sir Michael Myers Cup m*the recent diama contest in the British Drama League Festival in Wellington presented a play entitled "The Pjciiist." Mrs. J. Williams was the producer. A vivacious "Gipsy Ballet" *as performed by pupils c£ Mr. David Devitt to the accompaniment of tambourines and stirring gipsy music. A charade was acted very amusingly by members of the Drama Club, and caused much laughter, especially when the identity of each "character" was recognised Those taking part in the entertainment were Annette Harcourt, Alison Purdie, Noela Cable, Molly Brown, Zena Holden, Margaret Munro, Jean Knox Gilmcr, Maiy Marsden, Pat White, Erna Porter, Lyn McGoun, Janet Burnett, Honor Flanagan, Vivienne Little, and Sonia Caselberg. The rest of the evening was spent in dancing and the reunion of old. friends and .teachers!
The committee of the Old Girls' Association responsible for the supjier and dance arrangements were Miss Mary White (secretary). Miss\Mary Marsden (treasurer), Mrs. John Macdonald, Mrs James Stewart, Miss ]\ell Clere, Miss Pat While, Miss T.lona Buen Miss Pens Wilsone, and Miss Strombom Music was MippheC by Mrs. Webb and Mr. Horace Harrop.
Miss Bab^r (president of {he association and former headmistress of Marsden School) was present, wearing a | black frock urder a white fur coat; i Miss Mayhi-w (patroness of-the association and present headmistress: of' '.he school) was dressed in blue velvet trimmed with white.fur. Others-pre-sent (consisting of old girls, present girls, and teachers') were Mrs. J. Williams, Mrs. C. Q. Pope, Mrs. M. Burnett,,Mrs. Peter Kirkcaldie, Mrs. W. S. McConville, Mrs.' Lackey, Mrs. K.
