CROSSING ACCIDENTS

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—l think there is real cause for complaint as the signals for pedestrians are of no further use, for the motor traffic- ignores them. Last Thursday, the 31st instant, between 5 and 6 o'clock, I was almost run down by a motor-car as I was cross! \<i over the junction of Taranaki Street and Courtenay Place. This is not the first by many at this crossing when tfce signal showed at red. Unless something is done there will be a serious accident. When is the pedestrian going to receive a little consideration at the crossings?—l am, etc.,

SAFETY.
