Derby, says: "Coming, from near the rear of the field at, the ninefurlong post and galloping with great determination in the straight, Feldspar reaped the reward for consistency by winning the Derby after an exciting finish with Allunga and his own stablemate Garrio. Feldspar ran the' race of a true stayer and : vindicated the judgment of K. Voitre, who considered him a better stayer than Garrio. A series of mishaps militated against Allunga, who was kicked at the .-post and was then "hampered wtien Young Idea fell."
