FATAL EXPLOSION
TRAGEDY IN BEDROOM
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, October 29.
Attracted by a loud explosion in the bedroom occupied by her brother, Alfred Luke Donnelly, a widower, aged 48, of Upper Queen Street, this morning, his sister, Mrs. Walters, entered the room to find him terribly injured, his head being blown almost completely off. She at once informed another brother, who sent for a doctor, but life was already extinct. .At an inquest the deceased's brother, P. L. Donnelly, said he had taken breakfast to the deceased in bed about half an hour before, when he appeared normal, though quiet. The deceased had spoken of taking his life at times, but little attention had been paid to it. He had been on sustenance for some time, and had recently been ordered to camp. He was an expert in the use of explosives, but witness had never seen any in the house.
The inquest was adjourned.
