THE MASQUERADERS
The annual meeting o£ the Masqueraders' Club was held iiTChanriing Hall last night, when there was a good attendance of members, and intending members and their friends. The president read the report on the year's wprk, which was adopted. * The election of officers resulted as follows:—^President, Miss M. Blathwayt; vice-presidents', Miss D. Levy and Mr; M. Kennedy; hon. secretary, Mr. E. B. Porter; hon. treasurer, Mr. G. Fraser; additional members of committee, Mrs. D. M. Robertson and Miss Lorna Tattersall. "The Same Star," a comedy in three acts by E. V. Lucas, was read and thoroughly enjoyed by those present. After the reading a delicious supper was served. : . . Among those present were Mrs. D. M. Robertson, Mrs. E. Elgar, Mrs. Robson, Misses M. Marsh, M. Blathwayt, J. Owen, W. Aitken, E. Robins, J. IJargreaves, M. Barraclough, P. Stafford, D. Robins, L. Garratt, B. Fame, 1. Norris, E. Aitken, N. Mulligan, D. Haughey, P. McKenzie, D. Levy, M. Lewis, M. Frame, V. Robertson, J. Porter, M. Crawford; and Messrs. H. Strange-Mtire, John Harvey, J. Holmwood, H. "Warner. E. B. Porter, E. Davies, M. Solomon, and G. Fraser. . The annual competition was won by Mr. D. Roche.

Reference was made to the Women's Hospitality Auxiliary, on which committee Mrs. J. Pow is the league's representative. Members had visited the hospital and had distributed gifts of flowers, fruit, books, and magazines, which were greatly appreciated by the patients. The sum of one guinea was donated towards Christmas bed jackets for the children's ward, and one guinea to the Freer Ambulance. Five guineas had also been, donated to the Cancer Campaign Fund. The. committee expressed thanks to Mrs. Clarence Corrigan, who had taken Miss Amy Kane's place as treasurer while the latter was abroad, and to Miss Thompson, the hon. secretary, for efforts on behalf of the league.' Mrs. Pow moved a vote of thanks to Mrs. J. A. Doctor for acting as president, during Lady Buckleton's absence abroad and eulogised the work she is doing for the league. The motion was carried by acclamation. Delightful vocal items were, given by Mrs. A. Middleton . and Miss Edna Parton, Miss M. Putman playing the piano accompaniments. Miss Lena Van Staveren; also entertained with elocutionary items. Ah. interesting interlude was the handing around of photographs of snuff boxes which the King chose as a Jubilee gift from the combined Empire societies, and towards which the Wellington branch of the league subscribed £17 9s. An address was given by Miss Amy Kane, who had many interesting things to tell about her recent trip abroad. Afternoon tea was served, and all present took the opportunity of discussing matters of . interest to the league.
