NEWSPRINT MANUFACTURE.
Considerable progress has been made with investigations by the Melbourne "Herald" Company inVo the prospects of newsprint being made from euctilypts. On experience gained in Canada and the United States with a view to having plans of a mill and equipment, and detailed specifications prepared in accordance with the advice of skilled engineers and specialists the company proposes that when plans are completed actual costs will be ascertained py tender. Valuable areas have been added to forest concessions in the Derwent Valley, Tasmania. The
"Herald and Weekly Times," in conjunction with the proprietors of the "Sydney Morning Herald," has formed a company with a view to developing the manufacture of newsprint on a commercial scale in the interests of the newspapers. Other leading Australian newspaper publishing firms and companies have agreed to take shares in this company.
