FORTUNATE ESCAPE

DRIVER THROWN CLEAR

Mr. David Dunnett, a salesman for the Hawke's Bay Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association, had a fortunate escape from severe injuries in a railway crossing accident on Saturday morning. He was driving a motor-car along, the Whakatu stock road and while crossing the railway line was struck by the engine of the 9.45 a.m. train from Hastings.

The car was extensively damaged, but Mr. Dunnett, who was thrown clear, escaped injury.
