SYNOPSIS OF LAST 48 HOURS.

A ratlicr sharp depression crossed the Dominion on Saturday, passing rapidly eastwards during the night. Scattered showers fell during the day In western and far southern parts, with moderate to strong winds, mainly from the west,. prevailing. Elsewhere tho weather was fine but la the night a change to southerly winds was accompanied hy fairly widespread rain and a decided drop in temperatures. By Sunday morning- the front of an anticyclone had moved on to the Dominion and the weather had Improved In most parts and has since been fair to flue. Last night was very cold, frosts occurring In places and this morning winds were light nearly everywhere and moro variable in direction.
