PORT NICHOLSON WIN

A splendid performance enabled the Port Nicholson Club's A team to defeat Petone A, who at the end of two x-aces had a time advantage of lmin Bsec, in the third and final race of the season for the Hope Gibbons Road Cycling Shield on Saturday afternoon The members, of the winning team combined very well, all working hard. Poneke A were third. Mr. H. J. Dutton, on behalf of Messrs. Hope Gibbons, Ltd., presented the shield to the winning team and congratulated it on its performance. Results are as follows, the times given being the average for the three races, and, m parentheses, those registered on Saturday:— Port Nicholson A (Len Sowerby Les Sowerby, J. Wilson, K. Wilson, O. Disley) (59min 21 1-5 sec), 62min 38sec i Petone A (T. Roe, P. Roe, B Barlow, C. Biggs, R. Triplow), (63mm 31 3-ssec), 62min 52 2-ssec 2 Poneke A (R. Ulmer, L. Roberts L Walsh, R. Dutton, F. Boulton) <60min llsec), 63min 31 2-ssec 3 Poneke B (64min 39 3-ssec) was fourth with 64min 58 2-ssec, and Port Nicholson B (67min 28 l-ssec) fifth with 68min 39sec.
