YACHT MOREWA

CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP

BOUGHT BY MAYOR OF AUCKLAND

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. It is understood that the schooner yacht Morewa has been purchased from Mr. J. W. S. Me Arthur- by Mr. Ernest Davis, Mayor of Auckland, who is a keen yachtsman and owner of the Viking, the largest yacht on.Auckland Harbour.

The Morewa is a craft of 80 tons, and was launched at Auckland in June, 1933. She visited Norfolk Island and was nominated for the Tasman yacht race in connection with the Melbourne Centenary, but her new sails'were not available in time. Reputedly, she cost £8000, since when further improvements have been carried out. She left Auckland in April for Brisbane, crossing in 18 days,, and has been there since.
