AGREEMENT LIKELY
MINERS AT WAIHI
AUCKLAND CONFERENCE
( Oy Telegraph—Press' A.sociation.)
WAIHI, This Day,
As a result of the efforts of the Minister of Labour to bring the parties to the Wathi mining dispute together again a conference is being held at Auckland, today. This is generally anticipated to mean every likelihood of an agreement being.reached, as the only point of moment at issue is whether the increased wage rates which will revert to the level applying prior to the 10 per cent, cut in 1931, are to be made retrospective. The men hold that this should be acceded to because of the fact that they, at the Martha Gold Mining Company's request, deferred opening negotiations for a new agreement until May 11, the date on which the new company came into existence. The Minister will be present at the conference. , ' '■
