R.A.F. EXPANSION
PROGRESS WITH PROGRAMME
(British Official Wireless. )
RUGBY,-October 11.
Excellent progress is being made with the programme of expansion of the Royal Air Force-;which was announced last May.
Already sites have been definitely chosen lor 20 out of the 32 new stations required, and measures are in train to make them ready, for service by March, 1937, when the programme is due to be completed. The sites of three out of six new armament training camps have been selected and five additional flying training schools have been formed. The enrolment of pilots and recruiting generally is regarded as satisfactory. Manufacturers are making a big effort to execute contracts for new machines, and in some cases arrangements have been made for other firms to build under licence special types, manufacturers of which cannot immediately expand their plant sufficiently to enable them to provide the required output themselves. Such or Ilio cable news, on this pa go as Is so beaded has appeared In '"The Tlnves" and in cabled to Australia and Ne* Zealand by special permission.
