POLLING TODAY
PREDICTIONS OF RESULT
OTTAWA, October 12.
' Canada will go to the polls on Monday to elect 245 members of Parliament from some 900 candidates representing five parties.
Estimates of the constitution of the new Parliament vary, it being predicted that the Liberals will win between 110 and 120 seats, Conservatives between 60 and 80, the Reconstructionists (led by Mr. H. H. Stevens) between 20 and 30, Social Credit candidates between 20 and 40, and Hhe Co-operative Commonwealth Federation between 6 and 10. The last-named party adheres to a sort of Fabian Socialist policy.
Should the final results approximate the estimates, organisation of the Government would be difficult, as Mr. Mackenzie King, the Liberal leader, is opposed to any alliance with Conservatives and' Mr. R. B. Bennett,, the present Prime Minister and Conservative leader, is reported to be adamant i against making common cause with his former associate, Mr. Stevens.
