MURDER OF KING
QUEEN WITHDRAWS CHARGE
TRIAL UNDER FRENCH LAW
LONDON, October 12.
The "Daily Mails Belgrade correspondent says that on the eve of the French trial of three men accused of complicity in the . murder of King Alexander, Queen Marie has withdrawn her charge as a civil party to the case under French law. ; The Queen sent a letter to M.< Paul who represented her at the preliminary hearings, stating that she forgoes any retribution for the assassination of her husband! Her only aim in being cited as a civil party was to assure that full light should be thrown on the crime, and this had now been fulfilled. Nevertheless, it is believed that the Queen's decision is due to fear that, in the event of the accused being sentenced to death, King Peter might be murdered in revenge by Balkan friends of the accused. ' " '.'■ The trial, which will be held at Aix-le-Provence, also deals with the murder of M. Barthou.
