CHARGE OF MURDER
MOFFAT RAVINE MYSTERY
ONE VICTIM IDENTIFIED
(Received October 14, 1 p.m.)
LONDON, October 13.
In connection with the Moffat Ravine mystery Dr. Buck Ruxton, of Lancaster, has been charged with the murder of his nursemaid, Miss Mary. Jane Rogerson, aged 20, who has been identified as one of the victims. Dr. Ruxton's wife, Mrs. Isobel Ruxton, aged 35, is reported to be missing. A cable message received on October 2 stated that the discovery of the 30 newspaper parcels containing portions of the. bodies of a, man and a woman was a sequel to the finding of the heads from the. two bodies, also wrapped in newspapers, in a deep ravine at Gardenholm, Dumfriesshire. A doctor's report on the parts recovered indicated that they were the remains of a man between 55 and 60 years of age and of a woman of about 30. They were so mutilated that identification was almost impossible. The skin of the woman's torso and of the man's face had been-removed with a sharp instrument resembling a scalpel. Even the manner of death was undiscoverable. Doctors • expressed the opinion that the mutilations were the work of a madman.
