Fair and mild weather- prevailed generally during Saturday and Sunday with moderate to strong north-westerly to westerly winds predominating, reaching gale force at times in the Cook- and ■ Fovcaux Straits areas. During Sunday, however, the last of a series of depressions which had bocn passing in the south intensified considerably oft the east coast. ■ Consequently a change to southerly winds has since taken place up as far as Cook Strait and conditions havo become unsettled with rain in most districts, some heavy 'falls occurring on parts of the west coast from Taranaki southwards and in the Cook Strait area.
