LEVIN EARLY SETTLERS

■ ■ • LEVIN, October 12. The settlement of Levin dates from the completion of the Manawatu railway, the first post office being opened
On Friday evening a reunion of early settlers was held in the Regent Ballroom, Levin, only those who resided in.the district prior to 1910 attending. Those present were welcomed by Mr. P. W. Goldsmith, Mayor of Levin, and the gathering numbered over four hundred. Among.those present were Mr. and Mrs. S. Hose, who came to Levin in 1887, Mr. A. C. McDonald, the oldest gentleman present, Mrs. T. Cameron, now of New Plymouth, the first white girl born in Levin, and Mr. F. G. Roe, the first postmaster.
Former residents were present, including some from Wellington, while numerous apologies for absence were received.
