• Arrangements have been made by the Wellington. Philosophical Society ana the Council of Victoria College for a public lecture to be delivered by the celebrated explorer, Dr. Bertram Thomas, whose achievements in Mesopotamia; Irak. Oman, and Muscat have been of outstanding importance, Dr, Bertram Thomas was the first European to cross the unknown regions of the South Arabian desert, and to do this was. obliged to live in the guise of a nomad Arab for a long period, travelling alone and by camel. He made important discoveries in regard to the peoples and resources of one of the last • unexplored regions of the globe. He will deliver an illustrated address on'"Across Unknown Arabia" in St. Francis Hall, Hill Street, on October 14.
