SMALL TABLE BILLIARDS
At Messrs. Billiards, Limited, showrooms last night further games of the Wellington annual small table handicap were played. Billiards of a high standard was seen in many games. Tr H- T .R- Tunley received 35 from H. V. Hitt, and was defeated by 200-182, Hitts breaks being 28 and 26 and TuniQy s 33.
R. Boyes, who received 40 points from F. H. Taylor, was beaten 200-172 Taylor, when in a practically unapproachable position, scored a brilliant 95 unfinished break from which he went out. His young opponent showed some ability. L. Russell beat M. C. Carroll by six points in 200 after receiving 50 start. Ihe latter cues very nicely, and has a good knowledge of the game. The game between V. A. Fordham and N. Tarrant was closely contested throughout, the former winning by 11 points in 200.
A. Plowman, a young player of some promise, received 70 from A. Smethurst, and won by 200-158, the best break being a 22 by Plowman.
Two Wellington Bowling Club representatives, C. Holcroft and G. Lamb, met in the last game, the former winning 200-173. The best break was a 23 by Holcroft.
A. Duncan won by default from E. A. Josling. An exhibition game of 500 up between Duncan and G. Dyhrberg resulted in a win for Dyhrberg by 500-421, a break of 111 among others falling to Dyhrberg. iTonight's games are as follows:—At 7 p.m.. Gilberd v. Lang, Dyhrberg Hy. v. Smith; at 8 p.m., Ingram v. Watkins, Jackson v. Bull; at 9 p.m., Keeeh v. Jephson. Liddle v. Moore.
A further rearranged match will be played at 6.45 between Hd. Dyhrberg and W. J. Billman.
The final round of the Wellington City and Suburban Billiard and Snooker League was contested last night. St. George, by defeating Paramount 14-2 in the last game of the season, won the championship for the second year in succession. Victory defeated Queen's 13-3.
