WRESTLING AT KILBIRNIE

The Kilbirnie Wrestling Club was again unlucky in experiencing bad weather for its gymnasium night last evening but a large attendance enjoyed an interesting programme. The wrestling bouts, in which cups were awarded to the winners, were full of action and in some instances extra rounds were necessary to decide the issue. It was announced that Mr. Johnstone would present a challenge cup to the club. The cup presented by Mr. Alf Jenkins for the most scientific junior wrestler was won by A. Tomlinson, winner of the 6st 111b class, who also annexed one of the provincial titles on Monday night. The programme also included vaudeville and novelty items. Results were:—

Mahapuku (Kilbirnie), 9st 51b, beat C. Bailey (Johnsonville), 9st 71b. by two straight falls; B. Monastra (Kilbirnie), lOst 51b. beat A. Harrison (Johnsonville) lOst 71b, by two straight falls; A; Tomlinson (Kilbirnie), 6st 111b, beat Dayman (Kilbirnie), 6st 51b, on points; Lionel Ruby (Kilbirnie), sst 71b, beat C.
