MEN'S BASKETBALL

The final evening of the Wellington Men's Basketball League was held at the Y.M.CA. gymnasium last night. The Gym. A.team won the A grade competition, and the Island Bay Surf Club B team won the B grade competition. Results are as follows:— A grade trials.—B team beat A team by 12 points, to 8. The scorers for the B team.were Thorpe (3), H. Reader (1), Mintoft (1), and Tobin (1). For the A team the scorers were Watts (2), T. Reader (1), and Clarke (1)'. B grade trials.—B team beat A team by 14 points.to 8. The scorers for,the B team were Dandy (3 and penally), Burnette (1), Hall (1), and R. Jacobi (a penalty). For the A team ; the scorers were Luke (2 and a penalty), Redmond (1), and Baird (1). Final of the A grade series.—Residents beat Gymnasium by 16 points to 12. The scorers for Residents were Emmerson (5), Oliver (2), and Richdale (1). For Gymnasium the scorers "were Burns (5) and Lawson (1). In a match between the Y.M.CA. women's team and the V.M.C.A. Gymnasium the former won by 9 points to 8. The scorers for the women's team were Miss Young (4), Miss'Ainsworth (4), and Miss Norman (1) For the Gymnasium team the scorers were Lawson (4) and Burns (4). The match was played under the rules for women's basketball.
