The increase of specimens of the wild cat in Scotland is a puzzle to naturalists and an anxiety to gamekeepers. A very fine cat was captured. in a district of Fifeshire, where no such animal had been seen since the time when the kings' of Scotland used to hunt in the forest there. The number of wild cats seen in the Highlands disproves the theory that the species i« becoming extinct.
