;. Sir Stephen Killik, Lord Mayor of London, speaking at Girdlers' Hall recently, said he could not say how many times he had been'called upon to deliver an address, make a speech, or say a few words during, his year of office.
The "Daily Telegraph" informed .Sir Stephen that he was speaking for the 677 th. time at a public'function since November 9 last. He has already beaten the achievement of Sir Charles Collett, last year's Lord Mayor,. but has still nearly 300 speeches to make to catch up Sir -Percy Greenaway, Lord Mayor in 1932r33., a Sir Stephen was responding to the civic toast at a presentation luncheon to Mr. A. E. Watts, late chairman of the Valuation' Committee 'of 'the City of London.'" The new chairman (Mr. W. Newcome Wright) presided. '■ Sir Stephen said he had received many good wishes. One correspondent hoped he would have '. a successful year in his "morality."
