SPEECHES FALL FLAT
After his Excellency the GovernorGeneral had entered Parliament House, this afternoon to open Parliament, two men who had previously mounted the Seddon Statue began to address the crowd. Their feet were displaced by a constable, and their handhold failing, they fell to the ground locked in each other's arms. Both were taken to the watch-house. The crowd was silent, except for one remark, "It's all very well for those with full stomachs."
