A depression extends from the South Island to the eastward, while an "anticyclone covers I the North Tasman Sea ana Northern New Zealand. Moderate to strong winds between west and south-west have consequently prevailed, and conditions have been changeable in districts with a westerly aspect with showers at scattered places. In eastern areas, however, the weather has continued to be fine and pleasant.
