Lap records were continuously broken in the Ulster Grand Prix, the fastest motor-cycle road race ever run. '.•'■■. '■• / /While Guthrie was hurtling along behind Rusk round a bend at 100 miles an hour the machines skidded. Rusk sustained serious head injuries, but ] Guthrie astonished spectators when he i remounted his Norton and won at an average speed of 90.98 miles' an hour.
