PRESENTATION OF CUP

"Club football is the foundation, after, school football, of our game in New Zealand, and when you have clubs with traditions like those of Petone it speaks a tremendous amount for the club spirit throughout the country," remarked Mr. S. S. Dean, chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Union, at the function at which the senior A grade Rugby championship cup was presented to Petone. He was convinced, too, that the Wellington Rugby Union had in Petone one of its most loyal crowds. Tributes were paid to the captain (E. Reid) and to- the team's coach (Clem Green), and cheers were given for winners and losers, as well as for the Timners-\ip (Hutt).
