Thespians Entertain.

A crowded audience of members greeted performers at the Thespians' one-act play and social evening, held I in their Little Theatre, Lower Cuba Street, last Saturday evening. Three plays, produced and acted by members, were presented; a display of fencing arrangedby Miss Zena Clarke, which was thoroughly enjoyed, ' and also an amusing Lancashire monologue by Mr. Selwyn Toogood. The plays, casts, and producers were as follows: "The Valiant," by H. Hall and R. Middlemass: A' Warden, Evan Harrowell; Father Daley, Sam Tansley;. James Dyke, Norman Hannah; The Gaoler, John Pike; Josephine, Jean Kerruish. Producer, Mrs. Gay Dean. "March Wedding," by Muriel and Sydney Box: Toni Marshall, Josephine Peters; Alice, Monica Williams; Diana Wilton, Nola Hyde; Mrs. Wilton, Coralie Smythson; Mavis Clare, Rita Luxford; Alison Price, Meryl Daniels; Miss Moulton, Nola Kerr. The play was produced by Mrs. Greville Wiggs. "The Crimson Coconut," an absurdity by lan Hay: Jack Pincher, Martin Liddle; Robert, Harry Painter; > Mr. Japstick, Peter Palmer; Nancy Japstick; Mary White; Nitro Glicerinski, W. J. Mounljoy, jun.; Madame Glicerinski, Ngaire Horton. Play produced by Mrs; Frank Horton. ■ > The presentation of the plays was followed by supper and dancing, a large number of members staying for a very enjoyable party, which continued until the early hours. : Surprise Packet. ... Miss Jennie Paterson, a young typist of Glasgow, opened her weekly "pay packet and found in it £2000, states the "Daily Telegraph." The money had been left to her by her employer, a partner in a firm of Glasgow solicitors, who died recently! Interviewed by a reporter, she said: "I am dumbfounded. I cannot say more than that I am delighted at my good fortune." The I'money was left to Miss Paterson be- • cause of her "efficient secretarial ser- ■ vices."
