MILSON AERODROME
IMPROVEMENT SCHEME
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
' o PALMERSTON N., This Day. Some concern has been felt in Palm, erston North recently: that the task of preparing Milson Aerodrome to act as the terminus of the inter-island air ferry to be conducted by Union Airways has not been characterised by sufficient expedition owing to the small number of men (30) employed on the job to date. . Yesterday a deputation from the city, consisting of the Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford), Messrs. H. E. Edmunds, D. F. Smillie, and K. G. Chamberlain, together with Messrs. J. A. Nash and J. Linklater, M.Ps., waited on the Minister of Public Works (the Hon. J. Bitchener), representatives of the Defence Department, and Unemployment Board at Wellington to discuss the matter in an endeavour to increase the rate at which the improvements are being carried out. A definite assurance was given the deputation by Mr. Bitchener that the landing field would be sufficiently advanced for the opening ceremony, .which at.present has been fixed to take place in December.
