JAPANESE MISSION

ARRIVAL" ON MONDAY DOMINION ITINERARY GOOD-WILL TOUR Arrangements have been; completed for the reception and entertainment of the members of the. Japanese goodwill mission, who are to arrive by the Marama on Monday from Sydney. The leader of the mission is Mr. Katsuji Debuchi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, and the party willbe in New Zealand till August, 29. Mr. Debuchi and the members of his party will be welcomed by a Minister of the Crown, on behalf of the Government, at the wharf, and they vjill also be accorded a reception by the Wellington Harbour Board.^ At noon, they will be accorded a civic reception in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, and at 1 o'clock they will be the guests of the Government at a State luncheon at Parliament House. They will spend two days in-Welling-ton, leaving here on Tuesday evening for Auckland.

On their return from Auckland en route to the South Island, the members of the mission will spend Friday, August 23, in Wellington, and after their southern tour will return to Wellington on Thursday, August 29,-sail-ing the same day for Sydney. The following programme has been drawn up for the tour of the Dominion:— ' Monday, August 19.—7 a.m., Marama berths at No. 1 Queen's Wharf; 9.15 a.m., a Minister of the Crown goes on board; 9.20 a.m., the General Officer Commanding and Senior Naval Officer representing the Commodore' go on board and are presented by a Minister of the Crown; 9.25 a.m., Acting Hon. Consul of Japan goes on board; 9.30 a.m., Mr. Debuchi lands; Minister of the Crown presents chairman, Wellington Harbour Board; Harbour Board reception in . Harbour Shed No. 2, Queen's Wharf; 9.50 a.m., proceed to Government House; 11.50 a.m., Mr. Debuchi lays wreath at Wellington War Memorial; 12 noon, civic reception at Town Hall (Concert Chamber); 12.50 p.m., proceed to Parliament House; 1 p.m., State luncheon at Parliament' House; 3.30-5 p.m., Mayoral motor drive to points of interest, from Town Hall; 8 p.m., Dinner at Government House.

Tuesday, August 20:—Morning, free. Afternoon, discussions with Right Hon. the Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers; 7.15 p.m., leave by train for Auckland, accompanied by a Minister of the Crown, representing the Rt. Hon. the Prime.-Minister.

Wednesday, August 21— 9.40 a.m., arrive. ' Auckland —his Worship' the Mayor and Town Clerk presented at Railway Station; 9.45 a.m., proceed to Grand Hotel, where stay; 10.30 a.m., Mr. Debuchi lays wreath on War Memorial; 12, noon, civic reception at Town Hall; 12.30 p.m., return to hotel; 2.30 p.m., Mayoral motor drive to points of interest; 5.30 p.m., return to hotel; 8 p.m., civic "at home" at Town Hall.

Thursday, August 22.-8.45 a.ni., his Worship the Mayor of Auckland and Town Clerk call at hotel; 9 a.m., leave by motor for Rotbrua; 1.30 p.m., arrive at Rotorua; 2.45 p.m., civic and Maori reception at Whakarewarewa; 3 p.m., sight seeing; 5.30 p.m., dinner at Grand Hotel; 6.50 p.m., leave by motor for Frankton Junction, where join train; 9.25 p.m., leave Frankton Junction by train for Wellington.

Friday, August 23.—9.40 a.m., arrive at Wellington—proceed to St. George Hotel; day free; 7.45 p.m., leave by steamer express for Lyttelton. Saturday, August 24.-7 a.m., arrive at Lyttelton, proceed by train to Christchurch; 7.40 a.m., arrive at Christchurch, proceed to Warner's • Hotel; 11 a.m., civic reception in Council Chamber; 12, noon, Mr.: Debuchi lays wreath at Bridge of Remembrance; 2.30 p.m. to 5.15 p.m., Mayoral motor drive; return to Warner's Hotel via Lyttelton and Sumner; 6.30 p.m., leave by motor for Timaru; 9.30 p.m., arrive Timaru, stay night at Grosvenor Hotel, Minister of the Crown presents his Worship the Mayor and Town Clerk at hotel. .■■'■-"'• ■'■■■ Sunday, August 25.—8.30 a.m., leaye. Tuesday, August 27.—11.15 a.m., Mr. Debuchi lays wreath on War Memorial; 11.30 a.m., civic reception at Town Hall; 12.45 p.m., luncheon tendered by Dunedin Chamber of Commerce; afternoon, Mayoral motor drive to points of interest; 8 p.m., civic "At Home" at!
