UPPER HUTT BOROUGH

A CREDIT BALANCE

The bank balance at last had shown a credit, the amount being £205, reported the Town Clerk (Mr. R. C. Major) to the meeting of the Upper HUH Borough Council last evening, that.a credit had been shown, he said. This was the first occasion since 1925 It was very gratifying indeed to see the improvement in the borough finances. The 5 per cent, discount day for rates endedon July 30. The amount of current rates collected to date equalled 54.12 per cent, of the total struck. Councillor J. Purvis said that it must be gratifying to the Town Clerk to see a . credit balance, as he had had to fight to get in the money. The Mayor (Mr. A. J. McCurdy) said
